Touch field-day reflection
Today was our touch field day. It was held at Dunkirk reserve. There were many schools there that were very competitive. Our teams came 1st 2nd and 3rd. My job for the day was to be the referee for the schools that I was assigned to, and boy was it tiring. I had no idea what I was doing but after a couple of practises I knew I was ready, and I was. It was a real privilege to be apart of this special event.

T.P.S Year 8 Camp 2013
This week is a big week for the year 8's of T.P.S as we are going away to a camp for 4 days and 3 nights at Piha Mill.

I feel excited to attend this camp, as I was reading our timetable I knew that I will have a great time.
My friends and I are excited to spend this time to communicate and get to know each other more. My friends are Khylie, Faith and Krystal. Faiths favourite ice cream is Jelly tin, Krystal and Khylies favourite ice cream is cookies and cream, and my favourite is raspberry flavoured. Below is a phot of me and three of my year 8 peers. Metaphor- The wind
The wind
Whispers softly through my ears,
Runs on my face pulling my hair back to let it float,
Is a white blanket drifting through a crowd

Alliterative phrases- Food
Yummy yellow yams
Crunchy cooking clams
Soft sizzling soda
Cracking cans of cola
Pot peeled potatoes
Tasty tingling tomatoes
Adverb Poem-Lazily
Lazily!
Lazily she sits on the chair
Lazily Gaz brushes her hair
Lazily she bends over,
hoping tonight she’ll stay sober
Lazily she hops in the shower
trying to get out, it’s been an hour
Lazily she stands there damp, then
Lazily she gets a cramp

Emotion Poem
Hysterical!
Hysterical is falling off the chair,
knowing it should hurt but you do not care
Distracted with snorting of laughter
I know you feel like the giggling master
Hysterical is when you are laughing without making noise,
you are mute
even the number 1 laughers look at you and salute
Hysterical is when you chuckle and crack-up
people walking past and say whats up?
But you do not hear,
because you are in tears
from hysterical laughing.

Geometrical Patterns
Today I had to create and describe a geometrical pattern. This is the shape I created using folding symmetry.
I can see that my shape has 2 lines of symmetry.
To create my pattern, I folded my paper 3 times, cut out designs and unfolded it again. This is a fun and easy geometry activity that really got us thinking!

Persuasive writing- best genre- Rom coms
Romcom books are by far the best genre out of all genres, why? Because it makes you cry and laugh. Don’t you just hate it when your standing in the library for ages trying to decide whether to get a romantic book or a comedy book? Well the standing is over because rom coms exist and its better than ever.
Not only are romcoms funny and cry-able, but hidden inside rom coms are tips for good education and good tips for life e.g in ‘The Juliet Club’ By Suzanne Harper, Sylvia which is one of the characters in the story says “Problems can be fixed. But unrequited love is a tragedy.” And “Of course, all knowledge is useful. But not all knowledge is worth the cost.” Rom coms are exciting because it’ll surprise you with their secret hidden quotes and lessons.
I’m sure everyone has expectations before they watch a movie. Whether its high expectations or low expectations, with rom coms theres no need for low expectations unless of course it really is a bad movie (this only happens probably because of the lack of characters and endings that don’t go quite like how you wanted) and i’m not just being bias.
Good Rom coms to read are ‘The Juliet Club’ By Suzanne Harper, ‘Ive got your number’ by Sophie Kinsella and shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella.

Fact and Opinion writing- My neighbourhood
WALT understand the difference between fact and opinion.
Write two informative pieces about your neighbourhood (Panmure, Glen Innes, Point England etc). In the first box, use opinions to guide your writing. In the second box, use facts. The two should both ‘sound formal.’
Opinion
I live in the closest suburb to Pt. England which is glen innes but some people like to call it G.I
It is a friendly place because everybody smiles at you as you walk past. And also the shopkeepers talk to you as you are trying to decide what to buy.
G.I is a good community because they hold fun parades and events for children and adults.
|
Fact
97 percent of the people that live in my neighbourhood are Pacific Islanders.
Many people visit G.I because of the nice food. G.I was the first place in auckland to have Carls Jr which is a delicious take away place that many people like to eat.
